Interesting sites

Mount Sinai (The Monastery of St Katherine) – a scenic group of peaks close to Sharm el Sheikh, with religious significance and many winding pathways; the famous Burning Bush – with biblical origins, famous for being the site when God first spoke to Moses; and also Ras Muhammad Natural Park – located on the southerly tip of the nearby Sinai Peninsula and known for its exceptional coral reefs.

One of the natural wonders of the Sinai is the awe-inspiring Coloured Canyon. Take a walk between dramatic sandstone canyon walks with melting yellows, purples, reds, magentas and gold.  In certain places the canyon walls reach up to 40 meters.  You will have the feeling of being enclosed in a spectacular colouring book.

Nabq Protected Area embraces the Gulf of Aqaba coast between Sharm El Sheikh and Dahab.  This unique 600 sqm area of wadi systems, sand dunes, alluvial plains and salt marches supports a relatively diverse animal and plant life.

Ras Mohammed National Park is both a terrestrial and an aquatic nature reserve.  The 480 sqm protected area lies where the Gulf of Suez meets the Gulf of Aqaba at Sinai’s southern extremity.

The Blue Desert is located between Dahab and St Katherine. The most amazing thing isn’t the blue paint on the rocks but the wadi itself against the backdrop of the blue Sinai sky. Massive granite sculptures and golden boulders cover the desert floor along with beautiful pink flowers sprinkled along the plains.  It’s a great place for climbing, collecting pictures for your album or just getting away from it all.

Dahab meaning gold in Arabic is a one hour drive from sharm El sheikh, it is famous for windsurfing in its unique lagoon.  With its long sandy beaches and stunning mountain views it’s an ideal day trip for shopping or strolling along Assalah’s promenade.
